Diagnostics

Blood Tests, X-rays (Radiology), Ultrasound

We can't always figure out what is wrong with your pet by an external examination. We have a range of diagnostic tools at Springwood Veterinary Clinic to allow us to identify problems on the inside and address your pet’s health issues quickly and accurately. From initial consultations to ongoing monitoring, we use a range of in-house tools to provide clear answers without unnecessary delays.

Blood tests: Our comprehensive blood panels assess organ function, detect infections, screen for diabetes or thyroid issues, and monitor chronic conditions. We also have specialised blood machines to check blood clotting ability (important for potential snake bites or rat bait ingestion) as well as specific blood tests for heart disease, inflammatory protein markers and for pancreatitis. Results are typically available within hours, helping us create rapid and targeted treatment plans.

X-rays: Digital x-rays give us detailed images of the chest, abdomen, bones and joints to diagnose fractures, heart enlargement, foreign bodies, or tumours. They’re fast, painless, and essential for pre-surgical planning.

Ultrasound: Ultrasound examinations let us visualise soft tissues, organs, and pregnancies in real time without radiation. It’s particularly helpful for abdominal issues, heart conditions, and guiding needle biopsies when needed.
